SOCRATES JOHNSON (pronounced So-crates) is a defunct rock band from New Orleans that was active in 2008-09. It featured JOSH PENNISON on guitar/vocals, DARRYL DIMAGGIO on drums (now in The Local Skank,) and myself on bass. The sound was a mixture of fast post-punk, sludgy down-tempo, and classic rock influences with vocals alternating between masterful screaming and heartfelt singing. In August 2009 the band traveled to Sarasota, FL where we spent a week recording our debut album at Dark Matter Studio. It is still waiting to be mixed.
